With the bold red, white, and blue Fourth of July decorations back in storage the front porch feels bare.
Despite what the stores have on display, it’s way too early to start decorating for Halloween. I wanted to do something easy and inexpensive to keep my front door from feeling drab. With a woven bag, some silk flowers that were around the house, and a few minutes, I put this wreath together. It really was that simple and easy.
Is it even really called a wreath if it isn’t in the shape of a ring? Probably not. Not sure what else to call this decoration because I do want people to find it when they search online for a post. It’s not really a swag or wreath. Perhaps it should just be called a front door decoration? Well, whatever the proper name, I feel certain no one is googling “bag of flowers for my front door.” Nope, just checked. The top search is “bag of flowers for my friend.” My question is, who is giving a bag of flowers to someone? Wouldn’t that just be a bouquet? Oh…maybe they don’t know how to spell bouquet.
I digress.
Supply List
- basket, or woven bag
- artificial flowers- but real ones would be amazing
- plastic bags, or paper to add as filler
Instructions:
Step 1:
Gather together your supplies, remove tags, trim flowers to desired length, etc.
Step 2:
Fill the bottom of the bag with plastic bags, newspaper, bubble wrap, whatever you have around. Using a filler prevents the stems from sinking down into the woven bag. It also helps stabilize the stems.
Step 3:
Add your flowers and greenery, if you have any. I didn’t have any greenery handy so I kept it simple. Use any color flower or combination of flower(s). There is no need to spend a fortune, use what you have around the house. I do think that using fresh flowers would be amazing. If you happened to have a wonderful garden of flowers and those little water tube things for fresh cut flowers, you should use real flowers. Fresh flowers would also be an ideal way to welcome any visitors. I can just imagine the scent greeting me at the door. Too bad gardening in Texas is so difficult, otherwise, I would totally use real flowers.
There was probably no need to write out steps. This was super easy, right? In a few minutes you have a simple and cute, but most importantly, an easy front door wreath. It doesn’t always have to be a large and involved project to make your house a home. Sometimes it’s the simple details that set the tone. π

I love it! Now I’ve got a reason to use that Michael’s coupon :).
Absolutely! I love using their coupons. I also tend to purchase the flowers that are on sale for a future project. For example, I purchased red flowers that were on clearance because they were “Fall” flowers and I used them for a Valentine’s Day wreath (After I used them for Halloween and Christmas, that is.)
I look forward to seeing what you create!
